Leicester City striker Islam Slimani wants to join Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, per Le Buteur.
What’s the word?
Spurs are attempting to sign a striker before the deadline due to the injury sustained by Harry Kane that could rule him out for the remainder of the season.
Slimani is wanted by a number of clubs, including Manchester United and Valencia, but he is said to prefer a move to Spurs, where he believes he will receive greater playing time, per the report.
The 31-year-old has played 14 times for Monaco this season during his loan spell from Leicester City and has scored seven goals in all competitions, while also registering seven assists.
May be out of luck
Football FanCast sources understand that Spurs are still confident that they will be able to strike a deal for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek that would see him join on an initial loan with an option to buy.
The club continue to work on the deal and there is a hope that they will be able to announce it before Friday’s deadline.
Slimani, then, could well be out of luck.
No clues whatsoever: Which seasons do these iconic Spurs images belong to?
While he is a decent back-up option for Spurs to have, they are certainly focusing their energy on the Poland international rather than the on-loan Foxes forward.
While a change of circumstance could well see them change their minds – particularly if an aspect of the Piatek deal falls down for whatever reason – at this point, it seems that Slimani will have to simply wait by the phone.
Meanwhile, sources have given FFC the lowdown on Spurs’ striker hunt!
