da bet7k: Alan Pardew has been under pressure of late due to a dismal run which saw Crystal Palace record six defeats on the bounce, but the manager has received backing from chairman Steve Parish.
da bwin: Whether it is the dreaded vote of confidence remains to be seen, but supporters are not best pleased that the Eagles chief told talkSPORT that the manager’s job is safe for the time being.
It seems as though Pardew can breathe a sigh of relief as it appears as though last weekend’s much-needed 3-0 win over Southampton has given him some time.
Last week, reports emerged claiming that recently-axed England boss Sam Allardyce was favourite to replace the under-fire Pardew, but any plans of a managerial switch seems to be on the back-burner.
“It is totally safe in that every manager is under pressure,” Parish told talkSPORT. “You need to win football matches. It is a very binary industry and we are all under pressure. You can’t lift that pressure from people – that is no more constructive than putting it on them.
“We don’t have to have that conversation because Alan knows the game, he knows where he is and he knows the things he has to do. The most important thing is we want him to succeed, we try and help him to succeed, and all the things around the club are geared to making him succeed.
“He is a positive force in everything around the football club, in the interest he takes in every area of the football club, and all the positive things he does, so everybody is geared to making Alan a success at the club.
The table does not lie, though, and Palace fans will not be best pleased with where their club is situated after 14 games top-flight games.
The London outfit are just three points above the drop zone after picking up 14 out of a possible 42, and they currently have the fourth-worst defence in the division having conceded 26 goals so far.
Only Hull City, West Ham United and Swansea City have a worse defensive record in the top flight so far this season.
So, with the statistics there for all to see, some Palace fans are not best pleased with Parish’s public backing of Pardew.
