Welbeck has had an effective start to the season scoring three goals so far, despite only starting the cup games and being used from the bench in the Premier League by manager Unai Emery. The 27-year-old, whose contract at the Emirates runs out at the end of the current campaign, seems to be a valuable addition in the current squad, usually making an impact once he comes on.
Although he will most likely continue to be used in that way by Emery, Welbeck is going to have a big role to play in the north London outfit’s season as they try to win the Europa League and an injury to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette could open the door for him in the starting XI.
